Welcome to Headwaters at Home Distance Learning Resource page. This page is meant to help you find the materials and resources you will need to participate in distance learning while Headwaters School campuses are closed in response to COVID-19.
The information on this page is general and will help you locate your classroom's resources while providing some answers to questions you may have as we start distance learning. Please see the headers below for each program.
Headwaters School will keep our campuses closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year in accordance with State Executive Orders. We will continue Headwaters at Home distance learning.
Our aim is to create a Montessori-based framework that serves our students while supporting parents as we all adapt to a different daily routine. It is important to us that the children’s activity during this time be enjoyable, thoughtful, challenging, and rewarding.
Our elementary guides have created synchronous and asynchronous learning learning with a schedule that includes time spent guides guides for lessons, friend groups, and smaller learning groups. Guides are also providing a suggested schedule of the day, work plans, work choices, and a designated time for children to meet via Zoom with their guides and classmates.
Our Specials Guides are also creating activities and lessons each week on their Bulletin Boards for added enrichment.
For students on the River Campus, distance learning will entail a blend of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities. In brief, we will be holding regular class meetings online while also giving students space to learn and work on their own. The intention of our approach to distance learning is to maintain a semblance of regularity, class cohesion, and valuable interaction that creates dynamic education--all of which we value and have maybe taken for granted until recently--while honoring the current need for social distancing
