6/19 An Update on Planning for the 20-21 School Year

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers,

We hope you are finding ways to care for yourselves and your children as we continue to navigate this public health and economic crisis. In addition to these crises, and, especially today, on Juneteenth, we must acknowledge and accept that we are facing a humanitarian crisis about the ongoing violence and mistreatment of people of color, especially black people. At Headwaters, as we say under Advocate in our PACT, “We recognize our agency and act with integrity in pursuit of a more just and equitable society.” There is much work yet to do as we strive to be anti-racist and to convince all members of our community that black lives matter.

Utilizing all the information that is available to us at this time, we have created this Scenarios Planning document to give you a sense of what the coming school year might look like. While we are proud of the effort that went into creating the plan, we ask that you view it as a work-in-progress. We know that the science and regulations are ever-changing, so we will continue to be agile and adapt this plan accordingly.

We are thankful for every member of our community--guides working hard to think expansively, students doing their best, despite unusual circumstances, and, of course, the remarkable work that parents continue to do as they make the best decisions for their family. 

Please save the following dates for campus-specific presentations about our plans and how these decisions were made in our planning process. You will receive an invitation from Constant Contact tomorrow with all the registration details, too.

Tuesday, June 23 at 1 p.m.: Springs Campus Parent Presentation

Wednesday, June 24 at 2 p.m.: Creek Campus Parent Presentation

Thursday, June 25 at at 11:30 a.m.: River Campus Parent Presentation

We are excited to welcome everyone back to campus this fall. If you have concerns about how this plan will work for your family, we ask that you reach out to enrollment@headwaters.org before June 30. After June 30, the tuition obligation for withdrawal increases from 25% to 50%. While we hope that everyone will choose to return, we understand that some families may need to make other plans. Informing the school before June 30 will allow both families and Headwaters to prepare for the fall.
