Community COVID-19 Testing Clinic | Monday 2/21

Headwaters School
We have been able to reschedule our community COVID-19 PCR testing event for this Monday, February 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at our River Campus downtown at 807 Rio Grande Street.
Provided by Your Health Lab, this testing is optional and available to all members of the Headwaters community, including parents, students, and staff. Large-scale testing of our community will help us identify any cases of COVID-19 before River students and staff return to campus on Thursday, February 25th. This will help keep our guides, who are at a higher risk of infection, as safe as possible. All community members are invited and encouraged to participate as testing is another tool in our toolbox to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. For River Students: If you attend this clinic, you will be excused from classes as long as you email RiverCampusAttendance@headwaters.org to notify Paula of your absence.

To help the clinic run as efficiently as possible, download, complete, and bring a paper copy of the registration form to the clinic if you are able. Please bring your ID and any applicable insurance information with you to the testing clinic. Individuals who are uninsured are still currently being covered through the CARES Act. Headwaters is not responsible for any out of pocket expenses that may be incurred. More details about the testing process and billing are below.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at a.penry@headwaters.org

Stay well,

Alex

FAQs

Where do I go on the day of testing?
Testing will take place outside on the River Campus, at 807 Rio Grande Street. You may park in any available school parking space on the school campus or pay for parking on the street. Please wear a mask and follow social distancing at all times. Walk up to the registration table to check in and the clinicians will direct you where to go. Please dress for the weather as the line will also be outside.

What type of tests are offered?
Your Health Lab will provide PCR testing, which is considered to be the gold standard of active infection tests. This is administered through the more invasive deep nose swab. Each individual may also choose to have their sample taken with a throat swab, similar to a strep test.

When will I get my results?
PCR test results are available 24-48 hours after testing, and results are sent by email. The clinic has a new system that will be notifying participants in a more timely fashion.

Do I need to share my results with Headwaters?
All test results will be communicated directly with the person who was tested and not with the school. We ask that if your PCR test comes back positive, you inform the school and follow the CDC recommended protocols for isolation and quarantine.

Is there a cost for the test?
Up until this point, the CARES Act has continued to reimburse laboratories for the costs of testing for uninsured patients, and it has required insurance companies to waive patient responsibility for the costs of testing for those privately insured (amongst other costs). Your Health Lab is still seeing these claims being covered, even though there is currently no extension of the CARES Act, as COVID-19 testing is generally covered for the duration of the health emergency, current through April 20, 2021. For privately insured individuals, it is difficult to determine the amount that each insurance carrier will cover. We encourage each person to reach out to the lab to ask about their specific situation. A list of in-network providers is available here.
