COVID-19 Testing Plans for 22-23

Alex Penry
Dear Creek and River Families,

To continue our mitigation efforts around COVID-19, and to provide a valuable community resource, Headwaters will once again partner with Your Health Lab for PCR testing on the Creek and River campuses for the 22-23 school year. Read on for important details and sign up information.

In addition to the regular screening testing described below, we will host a special “back-to-school” testing session at the River campus on Thursday, August 18 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All students are encouraged to test prior to returning to school.

Here are the details for our COVID-19 testing program for the 22-23 school year:

WHO

All community members are able to participate in COVID-19 testing, including staff, neighbors, parents, and guardians. Children under the age of 18 must have parental consent for testing, but parents do not need to be present on testing days.

WHAT

PCR testing. This is the deeper nasal cavity swab or “brain tickler” test. Students will not be able to self-administer this test. It is a more accurate test to detect COVID-19, and the results take up to 48 hours to be delivered. Rapid tests will be available separately for test-and-stay.

WHEN AND WHERE

The Creek Campus will test on Tuesday mornings, and the River Campus will test on Tuesday afternoons during both middle school and high school lunch, starting the first day of school, Tuesday, August 23.

HOW TO SIGN-UP

If you signed up last year, you must sign-up again to receive testing.
1) Have your insurance card on hand.
2) Sign-up at this link

OR
Scan this QR code to get to the sign-up form.
**QR Code/link is specific to Headwaters School; if you have students at other schools this code will not work and is only linked us.
3) When you are signing up, be sure to "continue as a guest;"
4) Complete the form for the patient (your child);
5) Please be sure to add your email and text information to get results.

Once you have signed up with Your Health Lab, also complete this brief signup so that Headwaters knows which students are opted into testing. At Creek, we will pull students from class. At River, we will make announcement reminders for all students to get tested if they are signed up (we will not remind particular students).

COST

  • Testing will be billed through your insurance and is still being covered 100% by the CARES act. Families who have insurance will not receive an out-of-pocket expense for testing.
  • Important note for families without insurance: Unfortunately, the funding for uninsured families in Texas has completely run out and has not been renewed. Families who are not insured and want to take a PCR test will be charged the cash price of $123.50. Headwaters has a supply of rapid-antigen tests that can be requested by anyone at any time for no fee–please ask your campus manager for more information.
Thank you for continuing to take advantage of these resources to help keep our community healthy. Regular testing will reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Thank you,
