10/13/22: Parent Education: Raising Emotionally Healthy Children with Rakima Parson, LPC, RPT

Headwaters School
Parents are invited to join Rakima Parson, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist, for this virtual parent education session for parents of children aged 1-11!
Parents play a substantial role in emotional development in early childhood. Observing parents' actions, reactions, and daily interactions significantly impacts children's emotional health. Participants will gain knowledge about ways to model healthy regulation, increase their children's ability to regulate emotions and behavior, as well as ways to build stronger relationships with their children.

Rakima's practice, Centered Counseling and Consulting, serves individuals of all ages focusing on trauma healing, child-parent relationships, anxiety, and burnout prevention. With experience providing services in K-12 and university settings, she has gained a unique understanding of the intersection of mental health and academic performance. Rakima does not limit her expertise to only the confines of an office; instead, she actively seeks unique opportunities to share her voice and knowledge to improve lives and systems. Rakima has provided many mental health and wellness presentations and trainings to organizations such as NAMI, Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, and the University of Texas, to name a few. Rakima believes that there is valuable work to be done by providing individual counseling and she also embraces the responsibility of advocating, providing outreach, and training in the community. In her free time, she enjoys taking walks, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with her husband and son.
