Board of Trustees Update, December 2022

Jerry Aubin, Board Chair
Hello Headwaters Parents, Faculty, Staff, and Students --

I wanted to share a quick note on behalf of the Board of Trustees to express our appreciation for your continued support of Headwaters. This year has been a breath of fresh air for the Board as we’ve returned to in-person meetings rotating across each campus while we continue the work of shepherding the school and its growth.

Our Board is composed of nine dedicated individuals who care deeply for the school–Adam Battani, Allan Cole, Cheline Jaidar, Melanie Meador, Sean Murphy, Taina Palombo-Price, Jessica Rio, Magdalena Vial, and myself. We are all honored to be stewarding Headwaters School.

Here are some activities and achievements we’d like to highlight from the Board’s year so far:
  • We’ve helped Ted roll out the Strategic Priorities that he developed with our input and full support.
  • We devoted a meeting to working with a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) consultant so the Board can best support the school’s goals around DEI.
  • Trustees have spent time at events on and off campus so we can meet the community.
  • The Board received and approved the school’s recent audit that showed our financial health continues to be strong.
  • All of us have supported the school with gifts to the Annual Fund.
  • We continue to support Ted and his team in their work around admissions, enrollment, and retention/attrition by helping to build critical connections both inside and outside of our Headwaters community.
As the school year progresses, the Board will continue its efforts to support Headwaters’ future. Each of us bring diverse skills from our professional and personal lives that complement Ted and his team as we all partner to chart the best long-term path for the school.

In closing, I invite you to meet with me and other trustees when we attend events in the new year. Trustees will be in attendance to support Ted as he continues the conversation about the school’s Strategic Priorities. I hope to see you there!
If you have questions or wish to attend a meeting, please email boardoftrustees@headwaters.org.

Best Regards,

Jerry Aubin
Board Chair
