Anand Anbalagan is a Managing Director at Vista Equity Partners, a private equity firm that exclusively invests in enterprise software. Anand is currently a member of the firm’s permanent capital investment fund and sits on its Investment Committee. Anand currently sits on the board of Accelya and is actively involved in the firm’s investment in Ellucian. He was also actively involved in the firm’s investments in Bonterra, Kibo, Lanyon, MicroEdge, Mitratech, PeopleAdmin, Relias Learning and Upserve. Prior to joining Vista, Anand worked at Morgan Stanley’s Technology Investment Banking group where he advised clients on buy-side and sell-side transactions.


 Anand and his wife Maggie have two children, Nila and Avi, who both attend Headwaters , and a 65-pound lapdog, Luna.

Lawren Askinosie is the co-owner and Chief Marketing Officer of Askinosie Chocolate, a bean-to-bar chocolate manufacturer recognized for pioneering direct trade in the chocolate industry. Askinosie Chocolate has won nearly 100 awards globally, garnered praise from The New York Times and been called “One of the 25 Best Small Businesses In the Country” by Forbes, highlighting the work Lawren and her father do with smallholder cocoa farmers across the globe which sets the standard for supply chain transparency with a radical approach that includes sharing profits with the company’s farmer partners. A champion and advocate for gender equity, Lawren seeks out female-led cocoa farmer groups, facilitates girls empowerment initiatives in Askinosie’s cocoa origin communities and locally, served on the board of the statewide nonprofit Girls Empowerment Network for six years prior to becoming a Headwaters Trustee. Lawren is a published author, speaker, and 2025 fellow of the James Beard Foundation’s Women’s Leadership program with Cornell. Lawren and her husband Scott have two children at Headwaters (Cardinal, at the Springs campus and Marigold, at Creek) and love spending their free time traveling, searching for the best taco, and listening to live music. 

John Berkowitz is the founder and CEO of OJO, an industry-leading real estate technology company and operator of Movoto.com, the largest privately owned residential real estate search website in the US.

Prior to OJO, John co-founded Yodle, a leader in local online advertising, and built it up to a category leader with 1,500 employees, $200 million in revenue, and a successful sale to Web.com. He has received numerous leadership accolades, including EY Entrepreneur of the Year in Central Texas, Austin Business Journal’s Best Company CEO, and the Austin Under 40 Award.

John and his wife, Alina, are deeply committed to the long-term sustainability and success of Headwaters, as it has fundamentally improved their lives since their children Jackson and Logan, both Class of 2026, joined the school in 6th grade.

Laura is a steadfast leader with strengths in strategic thinking, learning, relating to others, fulfilling responsibilities, and getting things done. After completing a Bachelor of Design in Interior Design, Laura worked as a commercial interior designer for 10 years in corporate workplace, healthcare and higher education spaces. Along the way, she became increasingly fascinated with project management, customer experience and the financial side of architecture and design firms. She wanted to learn more about running a business, and decided to pursue her MBA in Entrepreneurship at the Acton School of Business in Austin.

Laura then spent several years working and volunteering with social service organizations, including Explore Austin where she uses design thinking and her experience managing people and projects to contribute to her community.

Laura has lived in Austin, Texas since 2008. She is passionate about Montessori education because of the hands-on cognition it affords, the personal independence and positive self-construction it builds, and the respect that children are deservingly given. 

Katie Fang is the Founder and CEO of SchooLinks, an enterprise SaaS company in the education space, focusing on college & career planning and workforce development. She founded the company after college based on her own experience using legacy tools and sought to make the process more engaging and effective. Today, SchooLinks serves millions of users across the country and has been on the Inc 5000, the fastest-growing companies in America, 4 years in a row, and named one of the top 10 "Most Innovative Companies in Education" by Fast Company. She was named to the Forbes “30 under 30” list, Top Texans under 30, the Young Woman to Watch, and has been featured on the cover of Austin Woman Magazine.

Tracy Manier is the Vice President for Enrollment Management at St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX, where she has worked since 1997. She was instrumental in the university’s enrollment growth plan during her 17-year tenure as Dean of Admission. Tracy has expertise in the areas of financial aid leveraging, student search, direct marketing, brand awareness, staff development and mentorship, and strategic planning. Tracy is passionate about social justice issues, especially relating to higher education, and serves on the President’s Council for a Respectful and Inclusive Campus at St. Edward’s. Tracy also served as an adjunct faculty member at St. Edward’s from 1998-2004, teaching a survey course in literature. She obtained her B.A. in English and Philosophy from Trinity University and M.A. in English from Pennsylvania State University. Tracy is also a 2012 graduate of the Harvard Institute for Educational Management and a participant in the 2015 Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Senior Leadership Academy Class.

Keith Martin is President at Continu, a start-up that builds learning software to help companies more effectively train their employees, customers, and partners. Keith is a strategic business builder with proven leadership experience and a passion for solving problems with practicable insights and action. Keith was based in London for 11 years, where he met his lovely American wife. Keith and Jennifer moved to the U.S. in 2011 and have a child at Headwaters.

Max Mejia joins the Headwaters board from The New Philanthropists. Originally from Mexico, he moved to Austin to complete his MBA at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. He brings ten years of experience across technology and consulting, and today works as a private equity advisor with Alvarez & Marsal on transaction advisory and performance improvement. Outside of that work, he has supported conservation efforts with Pronatura, which gave him a view of how mission-driven organizations sustain themselves over the long term. A lifelong learner and teacher, Max believes children learn best when they are trusted to ask their own questions and given the time and space to chase the answers.

Max and his wife Angela live in Austin and hope to one day send their own children to Headwaters. He is an avid swimmer and can be found most mornings at Barton Springs Pool.

Ed Muzio works with executive teams—from startups to Fortune 500 companies—to create collaborative, flexible, results-oriented management and leadership culture. His work has been hailed for producing substantial results even in the most challenging circumstances, and Ed has been called "one of the planet’s clearest thinkers on management practice" by the editor of an international business magazine. Ed has started organizations, led global initiatives, designed sophisticated adult training programs, and published multiple business books. His most recent, “Iterate,” is a bestseller for leaders, managers, and teams.

Jose Ricaud is Vice President and Banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Austin, advising institutional investors, high-net-worth individuals, and family offices. He brings over fifteen years of experience in real estate, private equity, and investment banking, with previous leadership roles as Senior Portfolio Manager at Amherst and Vice President in the Real Estate Investment Banking group at Citi. Jose specializes in cross-border relationships between the U.S. and Mexico and is active in the Austin community through the Council of Mexican Entrepreneurs and the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network. He also mentors prospective Darden students. Jose earned his MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and lives in Austin with his wife and three children.

Tiffany began her career in New York, working in fashion with stints at brands like Cole Haan, in editorial roles at Condé Nast titles such as Details and Vogue, and in the arts as an actor. A chance to produce led her to Los Angeles, where she discovered a love of storytelling through screenwriting. In Austin, she established herself as an author, publishing a book and contributing to a parenting anthology, while also consulting on content strategy and brand storytelling, helping founders and organizations tell their story.

Before becoming a trustee, Tiffany spent four years co-leading the Parent Volunteer Community on the Creek campus, an experience that shaped her deep, ground-level understanding of Headwaters and reflects the natural inclusivity and steady commitment to equity she brings to the Board. She and her husband have two Headwaters-loving kids, one at Creek and one at River, and are grateful to call this community home.

Brian has more than 20 years of experience as a licensed attorney, focused primarily on counseling individuals and companies developing new and innovative medical technologies. Brian and his wife Shannon have three daughters who have attended Headwaters and its predecessor, Primavera Montessori, since 2009. In his free time, Brian enjoys traveling, barbecuing, and various outdoor pursuits.

Magdalena joins us from The New Philanthropists. She brings 15 years of experience in non-profit board leadership, specializing in strategic planning and financials. She works as a technology leader, developing teams and scaling software product offerings. She hopes to contribute to deepening Headwaters’ roots in the Austin community. In her free time, Magdalena enjoys playing soccer and golf and exploring the world. Her favorite way to spend her time, though, is being Tía to her nieces and nephews, especially when it’s on an ice cream outing.

Aileen Yu is a first-generation immigrant from China who grew up in San Francisco after moving to the U.S. at age 12. Her global perspective has been shaped by living, studying, and working in six countries across three continents. Aileen brings more than 15 years of corporate experience in strategy, management, and retail/e-commerce. After leaving the corporate world, she embraced entrepreneurship and now owns a Mathnasium franchise in Southpark Meadows. She is also a licensed realtor and real estate investor. Aileen moved to Austin three years ago and quickly felt at home in the community. In her free time, she enjoys traveling in her camper van with her two dogs.
