Course Requests Due for Returning Students

Returning 7th through 10th grade students, if you couldn’t submit your course requests during Advisory in May, you still have the opportunity! Please follow the directions below and submit your requests by Friday, June 6.

1. Login to the Nest to make your course selections. Parents will not be able to complete this form for their student.

2. Check out the electives for 2025-2026, then following the guidelines below to request yours. Please note: No elective requests are guaranteed.

3. Please follow the steps below:

HOW TO REQUEST YOUR YEAR-LONG ARTS COURSE (9th and 10th Grade ONLY)
(all 9th and 10th graders take a full-year arts course in addition to a semester elective)

Options are: Art, Film, Jazz Band, and Photography. Prior experience is required to join Jazz Band.
  1. Under “Available Courses” you will be looking for “Performing Arts” or “Visual Arts” and click to expand.
  2. Click the “Request” button next to your top choice.
  3. Under “Selected requests” on the right scroll to the bottom to see your request. 
  4. Then click “+ Add alternate” and add one alternate arts course.
  5. Click “Save” at the bottom right.
HOW TO REQUEST ELECTIVES 
  1. Click here to review your options for the next school year
  2. Under “Available Courses” click “Electives” to expand 
  3. Click the “Request” button next to your top choices for fall and spring semesters, one each.
  4. Under “Selected requests” on the right scroll to the bottom to see the two requests. 
  5. Select your preferred semester, then click “+ Add alternate” and add two alternates choosing that same semester. Your alternates can be for either or both semesters.
  6. Do this for both semesters.
  7. Click “Save” at the bottom right.
GRADE LEVEL CONSIDERATIONS
  • All 9th Graders will be enrolled in one semester of Wellness and Life Skills as your elective. Your Wellness elective may be scheduled in the fall or spring semester.
  • Prerequisite Electives:
    • Engineer Your World (10th grade only) is a year-long suggested prerequisite for the IB Design Tech course.
    • SmartLab is a semester-long suggested prerequisite for IB Design Tech.
    • Logic is a suggested elective for the IB Computer Science and IB Psychology courses.
  • If the elective is available both fall and spring semesters, choose “any term” under “select a term.”
  • Do not request an elective you have taken before.

  • These electives are what is being offered at this time. Electives may change due to enrollment and staffing changes over the summer. We will notify of any changes and give opportunities to revise requests
  • For Class Aides (no credit) and Teaching Assistants (for credit), please email your request to your guide and Robin Scott, r.scott@headwaters.org, for approval.
  • You will automatically be registered and approved for the next level of your academic courses.
  • More information regarding Athletics will come out over the summer.
