2/19 All School Closure

Headwaters School
Due to conditions in Austin, all Headwaters School's Campus will be closed and all in-person and distance learning classes are canceled for tomorrow, Friday, February 19, 2021.
After careful consideration for everyone’s safety, we have decided to cancel all in-person and distance learning (Headwater@Home) classes for tomorrow, Friday, February 19, 2021. We know many families and employees have lost power and water this week, and we hope conditions at your homes begin improving. We are glad to see a forecast of warmer weather headed our way. 

Campus Building & School Updates
We have had some power, internet, and water issues on all three campuses, and our biggest potential obstacle to opening on Monday is lack of water. We will spend more time tomorrow and Saturday assessing each campus. We will be in touch with families about Monday classes as soon as possible, but no later than Sunday morning. That decision will be based on each campus's ability to hold classes. 

Important Notes
  • All Community: 
    • We are rescheduling the COVID-19 Testing Clinic that was scheduled for today. We will share details with the community when available.
    • The One Page Salon event is cancelled, and we are planning to reschedule.
    • No Campus Weekly Updates will be sent tomorrow.
    • Considering that there was no school this week, we will be making a decision about how to adjust our spring semester calendar to make up some of that time, per our Family Handbook policy on weather make-up days ("If there are more than three school days cancelled due to weather, we will schedule one makeup day before the end of the school year."). Please look for more information on that soon.
  • River Students: Please note, any assignments that are due when we are closed will be extended. 
Re-Enrollment Contract Deadline Extended
Thank you to all who have completed your re-enrollment contracts. We have further extended the deadline to this coming Monday, 2/22, to accommodate internet accessibility issues. If you need any support, please reach out to enrollment@headwaters.org when you are able to do so.
