Middle School Director Announcement!

Ted Graf, Head of School
I am delighted to write to you with some wonderful news regarding our search for a new Middle School Director. Terra Lynch has accepted our offer to become our new Middle School Director, and she will officially begin in July when Roberto and his family have moved from Austin to Tampa.
We were fortunate to have a group of highly qualified candidates (national and international) apply for this position. In collaboration with the Middle School Search Committee, we interviewed candidates with strong credentials, and Terra stood out in so many ways. It wasn’t just that Terra knows us, but her experience, leadership, emotional intelligence, and excitement to continue supporting the PACT in Middle School and beyond stands out. We are so glad that Terra was also able to “visit” campus as a candidate. This took her out of her day-to-day to talk with students, guides, and administrators about this role.

As you may know, Terra has been with the River Community since fall of 2016 when she came to us as our Learning Specialist. Over the past five years, Terra's expertise and willingness to collaborate has allowed her to reach all three campuses to share her skills. Earlier this spring, Terra supported the school as acting Middle School Director. Terra has led the school in our ISAS Self-Study, helped with the AIM process, hosted Parent Education, helped plan Civil Rights Day, in addition to social events like Friend of the FUNd events, the Community Picnic, and more. You can learn more about Terra’s background by checking out her resume and educational philosophy at this link.

Terra says, "I am excited about the opportunity to build on Roberto’s work. I have worked closely with him these three years--even taking on his role while he was on paternity leave--and
I believe my understanding of Headwaters’ three-campus community, my facilitative leadership
style, my expertise in instruction and pedagogy, and my strong executive function skills make
me uniquely qualified to continue the work of building the middle school’s ‘just right’ fit between
Montessori and International Baccalaureate."

We’re so excited to welcome Terra to this new role!

Please join me in thanking the members of the search committee: Eila Gilkison, David Heroy, Leslie Hirsch, Cait Taylor, Caroline Shaw, Tatiana Sokolik, and Lisa Dubuque Wood.

Families are invited to join the May 11 Middle School Parent Pitso to say hello to Terra virtually. We are also working on ways to connect with families this summer, too. Stay tuned!

Please reach out to me with any questions.

All the best,
Ted
