Elementary Director Announcement!

Ted Graf, Head of School
I am thrilled to share some exciting news for the Elementary program. Paige Whitney has accepted our offer to become our new Elementary Director, and she will officially begin in July.
As you may have read previously, Paige is coming to us from Alcuin School in Dallas. For the past twenty years, she has served the school’s Montessori program. She was a Lower El guide for fourteen years, Assistant to Head of Elementary for four years, and for the past two years she has served as the Head of Lower Elementary. Her work with teachers and student support, parent communications, admissions, and other duties demonstrates excellent experience both in and out of the classroom. Paige has her BA in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, her Teacher Training from Bergamo Montessori, and her AMI Montessori diploma.

Paige’s breadth of experience, coupled with her curiosity for all things about learning, made her a wonderful candidate. Welcoming her to campus last week only made it clearer that she is the right fit for our program. Throughout the day, Paige was able to visit each and every classroom and observe. She was also able to spend time with guides to answer their questions and talk about education. She was even able to meet with some of the administrators to talk about all the other things that go on to make a school run. And throughout the entire day, we learned more about her and her educational philosophy and experience.

When asked what brought Paige to Headwaters, she says, "I am looking forward to being a part of the Headwaters community. The minute I saw the school and met the group of people I will be working with, I knew instantly this would be a comfortable, creative, and exciting place to be. I am eager to continue the efforts everyone has made through hard work and collaboration to make Headwaters the special school that it is.”

Paige continued, “With my Montessori experience both in the classroom and in administration, my flexibility, resourcefulness and appreciation for individual differences, I am eager to exchange insights as we grow together.” We are eager to grow with you, too, Paige!

We’re so excited to welcome Paige to this new role. Please join me in thanking the members of the search committee—Yvonne Solorio, Jennifer Phillips, Emily Martin, Alex Penry, and Leslie Hirsch.

We are also working on ways for Paige to connect with families later through a virtual meet and greet. Stay tuned!

Please reach out to me with any questions.

All the best,

Ted
