What to do if you fail the student Magnus COVID-19 Symptom Screening
Avé Luke-Simpson & Terra Lynch
Our many thanks to each of you for using Magnus each morning before heading to school. We wanted to send this note to clarify and provide guidance around what happens if a student fails the Magnus Student Screening due to a COVID-19 Symptom, close contact, and/or a positive COVID-19 test result.
Greetings River Community,
Our many thanks to each of you for using Magnus each morning before heading to school. We wanted to send this note to clarify and provide guidance around what happens if a student fails the Magnus Student Screening due to a COVID-19 Symptom, close contact, and/or a positive COVID-19 test result. This email will tell you who to contact and next steps.
The student Magnus Symptom Screening is the first layer of protection, along with physical distancing, hand-washing, open windows, air purifiers, and more, are all ways that we continue to mitigate risks. We like the visual of the Swiss cheese model. When we all participate in these layers of protection, we are making it possible to continue school, in-person as safely as possible. Thank you to each student and parent who helps us towards this goal. And please know, we continue to seek out ways to improve our policies and listen to the community.
Please save this email for future reference and we will also post this as a tile on your Resources board in the Nest. It can also be found more generally in your COVID-19 Addendum on page 6.
If your student fails their Magnus Symptom Screening due to any of the following:
SYMPTOM(S) of COVID-19
POSITIVE COVID-19 TEST RESULT**
Please contact the school to let them know you will be out
Inform the School of when the person is expected to return.
Email Paula any appropriate medical documentation or information regarding missing class time.
Please email your guides about any work you may be missing after checking the Nest.
Please do not email your guides with medical details, symptoms, diagnoses, etc. as they do not manage these details. Please send those specifics to Paula.
*Close Contacts are defined as “Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from two days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, two days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.”
**For a close contact or COVID-19 positive test result or diagnosis, please expect River Student Services Coordinator, Robin Scott, to reach out to your family. Robin is managing contact tracing and quarantines for the school. She will provide clearance to return if conditions are met.
Please contact us if you have any questions regarding these procedures.
