Supporting Maui

Martina Campa
Dear Headwaters Community,

Hello! My name is Martina Campa and I am YCC Hummingbirds Support Guide on the Springs Campus. I am originally from Kapolei, Oahu and have many family, friends and former coworkers who are from Maui–and specifically Lahaina–that have been greatly affected by the fires.

As many of you know, the west side of Maui was set ablaze by wildfires late Tuesday, August 8. Much of Maui caught fire and burned, razing all of historic Lāhainā town, which is the original capital and seat of the Hawaiian Kingdom. History and homes and so many parts of our culture forever burned to the ground.

The focus right now is getting relief to the people who need it most, while we strategize to rebuild for the long haul. Listed below are trusted organizations that will directly help residents of West Maui. And remember, if you are unable to help by donation, sharing these resources and educating others on these trusted organizations is another great way to help.

Ke aloha nui iā ʻoe e Maui, mahalo nui loa,
(Much love to you, Maui and thank you very much,)
