June 2025 Staff Spotlight: Ellie Prager

Headwaters School
We're thrilled to introduce you to Ellie Prager, who joined Headwaters in August 2024 as the Primary Support Guide in the Roadrunners Classroom.

Ellie was born and raised in Austin and was a Montessori child herself—an experience that deeply shaped her perspective on education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Art with a minor in Spanish from Texas State University. Throughout college, Ellie explored a wide range of roles—from small engine mechanic to assistant art teacher to welder—but her heart always returned to education.

In 2022, she moved to New Orleans, where she gained valuable experience working with young children at a preschool and as a Hebrew school art teacher. It was during this time that she discovered her true passion for early childhood education.

Now back in Austin and entering her second year at Headwaters, Ellie brings warmth, creativity, and curiosity to our Primary program.

What drew Ellie to Headwaters
"I was a Montessori kid myself, so I felt a calling to return to that environment—it felt very full circle. I love Headwaters because the guides genuinely care for the children in such a meaningful way."

Fun Facts About Ellie
"I love live music, painting portraits, and spending time around cars—I’m passionate about car racing and even used to work as a small engine mechanic! Fun fact: I completed a traditional tattoo apprenticeship and I know how to weld!"
