Being able to participate in the end-of-year ceremonies across various campuses is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my job. From our Springs Campus YCC students to our High School seniors, we celebrate each milestone with joy.
The Parent Volunteer Community (PVC) is Headwaters School's parent volunteer organization. You don't have to do anything special to join the PVC–we consider all parents members of the group!

Earth Day 2023: How to Talk to Your Child About Climate Change
In honor of Earth Day, all Headwaters parents and guardians are invited to join Patricia for a special Parent Ed event called “How to Talk To Your Child About Climate Change.” Patricia will be presenting via a special lunchtime Zoom this Friday, April 28 from 12-12:45 p.m. Register here. Every year, each Headwaters middle and high school student invests in a personal project. Students pick their topics in January and develop their projects through early March.

I want to express particular pride in two students who are living the “A” in our PACT by being advocates for Afghan refugee families here in Texas. Yara Hussain (‘23) and Stewart Haas (‘24) were showcased on both Fox 7 and KXAN on December 11 for seeing their Community Leader’s (CLs) project–fundraising to purchase sewing machines to help Afghan refugee women economically support their families and themselves–come to fruition.

It is easy to be anxious these days, very easy. This has been true many times in human history and it is especially true for those of us in care of children and students–both parents and educators. While it can feel counter-intuitive given the daily demands of the world, it is important for us to think ahead and do our best to imagine what our school could become for current and future students.
