Remembering Former Trustee and Alumni Parent Allene Evans
Headwaters School
We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Allene Delories Evans, a treasured member of the Headwaters School community.
Allene was a parent, a two-term Trustee, and a dedicated leader whose contributions helped shape our school’s foundation and future.
Allene, along with her husband Tom Herod and daughter Lizzy, was part of our community from the earliest days of the Springs Campus—then known as Primavera Montessori. While Lizzy departed the school in 2018, but Allene’s commitment continued through her service on the Headwaters Board of Trustees from 2016 to 2022. During her tenure, she brought clarity, thoughtfulness, and compassion to her work, particularly as Chair of our Wellness & Safety Committee.
Professionally, Allene served as Senior Associate General Counsel and Managing Attorney for the Health Law Section at the University of Texas System. She was a deeply respected attorney and mentor, known for her exceptional integrity, insight, and advocacy in health law. She brought these same qualities to her leadership at Headwaters.
As our Head of School, Ted Graf, shared: "If you do nothing else today, please read her obituary. It’s beautiful, inspiring, and kind of hilarious. May we all live such memorable and impactful lives."
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Herod-Evans family and to all who had the privilege of knowing Allene. We are grateful for her years of service, her joyful spirit, and the enduring legacy she leaves in the Headwaters community.
