Headwaters Emergency Text Alert System Opt-In 2025-2026

Jason Lewiss & Tom Sellstrom
Headwaters School uses short-code texting to send important alerts—such as weather updates, emergencies, or other time-sensitive information.
These messages are sent sparingly and are typically followed by an email with additional details.

To ensure we can reach you quickly when it matters most, we’re conducting a test of our Emergency Text Alert System on Thursday, August 14, 2025. The message will come from 79041. This message will go out to all parents, guardians, guides, and staff who have a mobile number listed in the Nest:

Headwaters: TEST of Emergency Text Alerts. No further text means you're already opted in.

Next Steps

If you get one TEST text message:

  • You are all set and opted in! No further action is required.

If you get a second text message:

  • If you are new this year or have a new mobile number in the Nest, you will receive a second text message with this message: Headwaters: Reply YES to keep getting emergency texts from Headwaters School at this number.
  • To opt into these important messages, you must reply "YES."

If you don’t get a text message from us:

  • If your mobile phone is not listed in the Nest, you will not receive a text message from us. Please update your mobile phone directly on your Nest Contact Card (see how here) or reply to this email for support.

Other Notes

  • To opt into future text messages from Headwaters School before the text is sent, text "YES" to 79041.
  • Please note, this system is different from the text message notifications that you can set in the Nest through your Nest Notification Settings.
  • When the school year starts, we will do this process for students and collect any available cell phone numbers.

Thank you in advance for opting into this important messaging system.

Sincerely,
Jason and Tom
