Every year, every day, every gift - Support Headwaters Today

Alex Penry
“Why does the school fundraise? Why don’t you just raise tuition to cover the actual cost?” I’ve been asked this question a time or two in my career, and I always appreciate the opportunity to have an honest conversation about the way an independent school works as a business.
In order to maintain a competitive place in the market, and to keep tuition affordable for current families, it is important to maintain consistent tuition rates without major hikes whenever possible. And to attract families, we need to be able to meet their needs through financial aid and present an amazing academic program, which requires competitive salaries for our employees. It is a delicate balance that requires hard work and creative thinking to manage.

The bottom line is, fundraising helps. Every year, contributions like yours help to keep tuition accessible while also making sure the school can pay its bills. Every month, contributions of every size honor Headwaters’ gifted guides by supporting their salaries and benefits. And this year especially, every day, donors like you are helping us invest in our facilities, technology, and classroom materials to provide a safe way for teachers to teach and students to learn.

The Headwaters Today fund helps cover these costs, and helps us maintain a steady, competitive tuition in the Austin market. And this month, there is a special opportunity to double the impact of your gift. A generous family with a deep love for Headwaters has offered a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $24,500 for all gifts to Headwaters Next, Headwaters Today, and the Student Experience Fund (more about that later this month).

Please consider a gift to Headwaters Today and help us focus on delivering our Purpose, Promise, and PACT to the next generation.

Warmly,
