Welcome To Headwaters School!

Hello future Headwaters family! We're thrilled you're here. Headwaters is a uniquely Austin school where students from early childhood all the way through grade 12 can learn and grow.

Headwaters is the school where curiosity fuels excellence.

Our Montessori foundation with the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme (IBDP) creates a curriculum that's both challenging and engaging. Our students don't just learn facts, they become Peacemakers, Advocates, Creators, and Thinkers.

Our goal is for your family to get to know Headwaters and for us to get to know you to determine if Headwaters School is right for you. At Headwaters, we encourage curiosity, pursue meaning, let students lead, foster belonging and live the PACT. We are looking for families who share these values and who are committed to and excited about continual growth and development.

We can't wait to meet you! In the meantime, you can explore our website to learn more about our programs, or complete our Inquiry Form to connect with our admissions team.

See you soon!

Upcoming Open Houses for Fall 2024

This fall, we’re opening our doors and inviting prospective families to experience the heart of Headwaters School. Whether you’re exploring our Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, or High School programs, our Open Houses are a chance to connect with our vibrant community, see our campuses in action, and discover how our Montessori foundation, IB Diploma Programme, and commitment to educational excellence prepare students to thrive.

During each event, you’ll meet school leaders, Guides, and current families; learn about our curriculum and signature programs; and connect with parents who can share their Headwaters experience.

Come see what makes Headwaters a place where curiosity is encouraged, individuality is celebrated, and students are empowered to lead their own learning journey.

What Our Students Say About A Headwaters Education

Alumni, Class of 2020

I believe that Headwaters provides an alternative environment with community-centered values that has been a good space for me to develop my understanding of self and my surroundings. I think the familiarity within the community and close relationships with teachers and students have been some of the most important aspects for me to be a part of this school; I do not know how well I would be able to handle a school environment where I was unable to rely upon that on a day-to-day basis. I think I have changed a lot since enrolling at Headwaters. My time in middle school helped me to develop my academically oriented habits, and high school was when I really began to grow as a person and explore my identity. I also became interested in why things happened in the world around me in regards to human nature and social justice, and found that my explorations within that area led me to have a serious outlook on the rest of my life.

Alumni, Class of 2024

Montessori focuses on the child learning what they want to learn. And when you're doing your IAs (Internal Assessments) and your EE (Extended Essay) in the IB, the topic is your passion. So, for Montessori kids, it's very easy to kind of segue from, 'What's your passion in general,' to, 'What's your passion within these subjects,' and then take a deep dive.
