Different perspectives make us all better

Lee Dykes and Kim Rutledge
When we look around the Headwaters community, there are a lot of things that we love. Our child’s connection with her friends and guides and the well-rounded education that focuses on student inquiry and knowledge as well as social and emotional growth come to mind. At the same time, we see some things that could be improved––socio-economic and racial diversity.

We know that exposure to diverse backgrounds and perspectives is the best way to break down barriers and misconceptions, and a great education is the best way to make generational progress. And we know that, when students with different experiences and perspectives learn together, everyone benefits.

We believe that access to Headwaters should not be denied to deserving students because of their socio-economic status. That’s why we started the Headwaters PACT scholarship––to provide this type of education for a deserving student, and to help diversify the student body. Because different perspectives make us all better.

The Diversity and Financial Aid fund supports the ability for students from traditionally marginalized groups and families with financial limitations to benefit from a Headwaters Education. Join us in supporting diversity and financial aid at Headwaters. We can’t afford not to.

If you’d like to join us in the conversation, please consider attending our virtual Diversity and Scholarship Social, this Wednesday, October 21 at 5:30 pm. RSVP here!

Sincerely,

Kim Rutledge and Lee Dykes
