Upper Elementary Winter Market

By Tim Reilly, Elementary Director

Many of you have been asking about the outcome of the Winter Market. I am elated to inform you that we had one of the most successful Winter Markets in the school’s history. Our budding Upper Elementary entrepreneurs raised $3,276 by selling their handmade goods and wares. Collectively, the students decided to donate the funds raised to Penny’s Pals. The mission of Penny’s Pals is to support the families of medically fragile children on palliative and hospice care through Forever Memories and Funeral Funding programs. I am so proud of our Upper El students not only for their hard work with the Winter Market, but for their open hearts in donating to such a worthy organization. Thank you to all who came to support our students!

K-1 Students and Design Thinking

On the Elementary Campus, we have partnered with Thinkery STEAM Learning Institute. Our guides have received hands-on professional development in order to implement some exciting new STEAM projects/challenges in the classroom. From K-1 to Upper Elementary, we have been having fun and learning so much with this partnership! Here is a fun look into the K-1 classroom where students worked on design thinking. Students began by exploring how Strawbees can be used to build structures. Next up, students will be presented with a challenge where they need to solve the problem by building their solution with Strawbees.
