Performing Arts

As a 9-year-old at our school concert, I watched a 6th grader named Dave play “Wipeout” on the drums, and I was hooked. Dave later became my first teacher, college roommate and best friend.  After high school, I decided to further my passion at Berklee College of Music in Boston. While in Boston I shoveled a lot of snow, played a lot of music, and met the woman whom I would marry.  I also found my passion for bringing the same excitement and inspiration Dave and other teachers brought to me, by teaching music to students of my own. 

I also got the the opportunity to join a great band and tour the country for the better part of two years. After pretending to be a rock star for a bit, my wife and I decided to completely uproot our lives and move to Austin in 2011.  I continued playing music and teaching in many different settings here in Austin.  I heard about Headwaters through private music students who were enrolled, and in 2017 I joined the school!

I am extremely grateful to be a part of the Headwaters community.  Getting to share and make music with these amazing young people is a joy and a privilege.  After 22 years of teaching music, I still love it.  

Outside of school, I remain active as a performer, my wife and I love spending time with our 9 year old son Elliot, traveling, playing Tennis, and just enjoying Austin.
