I am a first-generation Mexican-American, born and raised in “The Heart of Chicago,” a vibrant neighborhood on the southwest side of Chicago. As a Montessori guide, it has been my life’s calling to nurture children’s love of learning and to support each one in discovering their individual path. I believe that the adult’s role in the environment is to respectfully aid in the child’s natural development and it has been my great honor to do just that for the past twenty-six years.
I hold Montessori certification for ages 6–12 and have served as an Elementary Montessori guide for 20 years, though my time in Montessori environments spans much longer. I also hold a Middle School certification through CMStep in Ohio, and have worked as a Middle School Director and as a Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. My teaching experience extends beyond Montessori as well. I’m certified in Bilingual Education in Illinois and taught Art in the Chicago Public Schools for two years.
My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in Chicago, where I focused on Graphic Design and Art History. I began a Master’s program in Interdisciplinary Arts there as well. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in freelance design and event planning, including projects with United Way of Metro Chicago.
With my foundation in the arts, I naturally integrate visual creativity into my teaching. I strive to bring beauty, intention, and artistic expression into the classroom, helping children produce meaningful, integrated work across the curriculum.
Montessori education also resonated deeply with me as a parent. I knew it would be the right path not only for my daughter, but for myself. That decision led to a lifelong journey I’ve never once regretted. Today, I’m the proud mother of a bright and beautiful 22-year-old daughter.
Since relocating to Austin in 2022, I’ve embraced the outdoors, and I enjoy hiking, boxing, paddle-boarding, I've enjoyed exploring local coffee shops, food trucks, and weekend adventures. I cherish time with friends, my dog, and making art whenever I can.
