Advent
Advent is the first season of the Christian liturgical year, beginning four Sundays before Christmas and ending on Christmas Eve. The word “Advent†comes from the Latin adventus, meaning “coming,†and the season is traditionally observed as a time of reflection, anticipation, and spiritual preparation for both the celebration of Jesus’s birth and the promised return of Christ in Christian theology.
