Welcome to Headwaters Middle School!

Thank you for your interest in Headwaters School — we’re so glad you’re here and excited to share more about our Middle School program.

Our Middle School, serving students in grades 6–8, provides a dynamic and supportive bridge between childhood and adolescence. At Headwaters, students are encouraged to explore their emerging identities, embrace academic and personal challenges, and grow as thoughtful members of a compassionate community.

Located in downtown Austin at 801 Rio Grande Street, our River Campus houses both the Middle and High School programs. Spread across eight buildings, the campus provides flexible learning spaces that foster independence, collaboration, and creative thinking.

On this page, you’ll find everything you need to get started: program overviews, upcoming events, family testimonials, and how to schedule a visit.

What Is the Nest?

The Nest is our internal school portal that serves as your one-stop hub for all things Headwaters. It brings together admissions, assignments, grades, attendance, schedules, and school communications. It also supports tuition, billing, and contract signing.

After inquiring, you will receive information about how to set up an account in The Nest. Setting up this account will allow you to view your child's individual checklist steps. We recommend bookmarking the login page.

Hear from Middle School Parents

Earlier this year we hosted conversations for each of our programs that connected current parents with prospective parents. Watch below!

Discover What Sets Middle School at Headwaters Apart

Middle School Student

When I moved up to the Headwaters Middle School, it was really easy to settle in. There was a big step up in difficulty, but it felt like the same concepts and ideas, so it was easier to grasp. I’ve been learning in that style for so long, it felt natural despite the challenge.
